Navy Vice Admiral Michelle J. Howard nominated to recieve her fourth star
On Friday, 13 DEC 13, the Secretary of Defense announced Navy Vice Admiral Michelle J. Howard has been nominated by President Obama for appointment to the rank of Admiral and assignment as Vice Chief of Naval Operations (VCNO).
This is a very historic nomination. Upon confirmation, Admiral Howard will become our nation's first female naval officer (Navy, Coast Guard, or Marine Corps) recommended for promotion to attain this rank and the first African-American female officer in the history of United States' military recommended to receive four stars.
